The sunrise was really pretty that day! The air was crisp and it's just so nice to see pine trees and snow!

Igloo ...

Igloo

That I didn't help build! =D

The igloo we tried to build collapsed while we were building it... It also didn't help that it was warm that day... around 57 degrees!!! We actually snuck to the camp of the other group while they were away to take pictures of their igloo... hee-hee!

It was a nice hike from Hell Hole Canyon to this spot (Flat Cat Canyon) with the nice view of Borrego!

Finally.... Some Water!

Anza-Borrego State Park

Maiden Hair Fern Falls

This is the Maiden Hair Fern Falls! I was a little disappointed when I first saw the falls since I imagined a much bigger waterfalls... hee-hee! It's still pretty amazing though since it's in the middle of the desert! We actually filtered water from the falls for our drinking water!

Can you spot the.. Big Horn Sheep!

Anza-Borrego State Park

Big Horn Sheep!

It was really amazing when we spotted this big horn sheep! There was actually four of them grazing on the rocks and butting each other with their horns! Some people told us that they've been hiking around the area for years but have yet to see a big horn sheep! Much less this close! Isn't that amazing?

Palm Grove... In the Desert!

Anza-Borrego State Park

Palm Grove Near Maiden Hair Fern Falls

For this trip, we started out at Hell Hole Canyon, which is actually a nice area... This palm grove is on the way to the Maiden Hair Fern Falls! First time I saw a Palm grove in the desert! It's like, we're hiking on this desert terrain... then BAM! There's lots of green! =)

You'll find this railroad track! This is a working train track and they said that at least 2 freight trains pass here everyday!

Abandoned Railroad Camp in Indian Hill

The place is amazing! What's more is, I got to learn how to use a compass and a topo-map! This was the destination of our map and compass exercise for that day! Notice the peaks in the background? We actually found it on the topo-map!

Red... Black... Pictographs!

Indian Hill, Anza-Borrego State Park CA

Pictographs in one of the Caves in Indian Hill

The pictographs at Indian Hill is all over the place! It's interesting that there's two colors in the pictograph here... They said that the place where we found this pictograph is used for the rituals of boys' passage into manhood.

Graphic... or Not?

Indian Hill, Anza-Borrego State Park CA

Yoni at Indian Hill

Indian Hill is a nice area in Anza-Borrego littered with lots of Indian potteries and pictographs. Another interesting American-Indian item found there is the yoni, the female fertility symbol. Our leader said that it's easy to spot a yoni since it is, as he puts it, pretty graphic... What do you think? =D

On Our Way to Rockhouse Canyon

San Diego, CA

On Our Way to RockHouse Canyon

I'm not sure whether this is BLM land or Anza-Borrego State Park... They said this area wasn't a desert before, but was used for cattle grazing. Overgrazing happened and eventually turned into a desert land.

I haven't been checking my comments, but somebody gave me information that the Rockhouse Canyon is BLM land. Thanks much to the person who gave me the info! =)

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let your hair down

Can you imagine living in a castle? This is a view of Blarney castle. Kind of bleak inside, with the really narrow windows... Made me wonder how ever did the prince climb into the window to be with Rapunzel, with the windows sooo narrow...? Hee-hee!
