Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery
Singapore
It hasn't been long since I discovered that it is easier for me to remember what the name of the place/object was by photographing a sign. =D Good thing I did that for this place, because, oh my, the name is too long! All I could remember was that it was a very nice and big monastery... It's the Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery! Or, as I found out from wikipedia, Bright Hill Temple.
This is the Venerable Hong Choon Memorial Hall, one of the newer buildings in the temple. It houses a very large bronze Buddha at the top floor. This monastery is really big!
Here's the statue of Buddha at the top floor of Venerable Hong Choon Memorial Hall. Impressive, right? The pictures below the statue is a little view of the tops of the building around the temple.
The monastery is really beautiful!
The temple grounds is beautiful! I know! I keep repeating myself! Well, for a little more info about the monastery, here's wikipedia to the rescue! The temple was built in the beginning as a place of practice to propagate the Dharma and to provide lodging for monks, as there were many Buddhist monks who came to Singapore without lodging. It's the largest Buddhist monastery in Singapore. For more info about the monastery, here's a link to their website.
Here's a few more shots around the temple grounds.
Some more shots around the temple.
Even the outside of the temple is beautiful! Look at that depiction on the tiles!
One last photo that I wanted to share. Just don't ask me what the writing there means! I have no clue at all! =)
