Can you smell spring in the air? Well, this year, it seems like everybody can't wait for spring to arrive! I guess almost everyone has had enough snow! Hee-hee! What reminds you of spring better than cherry blossoms, right? Well, this isn't from this year, but a couple of years ago. =D
If you want to view some cherry blossoms and you'd like to avoid the crowds in DC, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens offers just that! It may not be as much cherry blossoms as the tidal basin, but still beautiful enough to view while walking around the gardens. Of course, one of the main draws here is, there's a lot less people than DC! =)
I love it when the petals of the blossoms starts falling down. It's like it's raining flower petals! Have you ever seen the anime Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin)? I thought before that it was just in cartoons where it's raining pink flower petals! Whoduthunk it's for real?!! Hee-hee! As you can see here, spring arrived early a couple of years ago!
One of my favorite parts of the park is the gazebo in the pond/lake. Isn't it beautiful there?
While at the gazebo, you may find some koi (I think it's koi, it may just be carp... =)) and some turtles in the water! While walking towards the gazebo, we were also followed by some pretty aggressive geese! Hee-hee! There were some flowers in bloom at the time and we did see some tulips already in bloom. Meadowlark is a pretty nice place for taking a walk. The only thing here is, going back it's uphill! Well, it's good exercise!
Aren't cherry blossoms a great reminder of spring? The only thing I don't like about them is that they are fleeting. Two weeks and then they're gone, leaving you to wait for the next spring season when the cherry blossoms bloom again.
